way to start your day by traveling along the desert trails and
loops. |
| Join us to
meet all kinds of desert creatures Quails, Roadrunners,
Owls, Rabbits, Coyotes, going about their business of existing
in this beautiful, sometimes harsh, desert environment. Desert
vegetation abounds and depending on the season, flowers grow
in unusual places and cacti show off their beauty. |
| Bring hiking shoes, a hat and water. It usually takes about
one hour. The vistas are breathtaking, and stillness permeates
the peaks and plateaus of the Little San Bernardino Mountains,
Mount San Jacinto, as well as the valley floor of our local desert. |

Discover the Desert
For more ambitious hikers, the local low and high deserts
offer a variety of fascinating trails and destinations. Only
thirty-minutes away, Joshua Tree National Park has spectacular
scenery, flora, fauna and rock formations. The nearby Indian
Canyons in Palm Springs feature palm groves and desert
streams. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will take you to
the top of Mt. San Jacinto, 10,000 feet above the desert floor
where one can hike on well-kept trails among the pines. Bird
watchers will enjoy time spent at the Big Morongo Nature
Preserve. And don't miss Cabot's Pueblo Museum right
here in Desert Hot Springs, a unique desert landmark and
fascinating remnant of the Old West. |
